Biologically interesting RNAs such as: mRNA, miRNA, lncRNA, piRNA comprise a small fraction of the total cellular RNA. Ribosomal RNA, on the other hand, make of 80-90% of the RNA pool but is typically of little interest. To prevent ribosomal RNA fragments from dominating an RNA-Seq library and taking up unnecessary space on a sequencing chip, they must be depleted before sequencing. The SEQuoia RiboDepletion product employs a novel technology to deplete ribosomal RNA while preserving rare transcripts and small RNAs as well as minimizing the risk of degrading or low abundant samples. The streamlined workflow and multiplexing features of the product lead to significant time and cost savings.
