Python in Excel runs in a secure Microsoft cloud container and comes with several libraries pre-loaded: pandas, matplotlib, seaborn, statsmodels, and NumPy. Need something else? Import it directly with a standard import statement, for example import re for regex-based text extraction.
A few practical use cases covered in this video: turning a range into a pandas DataFrame for advanced querying, unpivoting data with Python instead of Power Query, building line and area charts (including small multiples) with matplotlib, and pulling URLs out of long text strings with regex. Python also works alongside Power Query, not instead of it.
