In 3,200 years, Earth's axial precession — the gradual but powerful shift of our orbit — will change our North Star from Polaris to Gamma Cephi. Long Now Member & artist George Ferrandi's work focuses on developing new rituals and traditions to mark this shift.

For almost two decades, Long Now has produced hundreds of talks from the world’s leading long-term thinkers, all possible because of the support of our members and donors. Now, we are showcasing a curated set of short Ignite Talks created and given by Long Now Members themselves.

Ignite Talks is a story format created by Brady Forrest and Bre Pettis. Each talk is exactly 5 minutes long, told by a speaker working with 20 slides that advance every 15 seconds (ready or not).
