Buddy Rhodes Concrete Products | Intro to Buddy Rhodes’ Press Technique for Concrete Countertops @BuddyRhodesConcreteProducts | Uploaded June 2017 | Updated October 2024, 7 minutes ago.
The press technique is Buddy Rhodes’ signature finish. It is achieved by using his Craftsman Mix with as little water as possible to create a dry, clay-like mix. This mix is then hand packed into the mold. Because the mix is so dry, a lot of voids occur when it is pressed into a form, creating a natural veined look. Watch Buddy demonstrate his signature press technique to make a concrete table with a return edge.

This video features Buddy’s Craftsman Mix, his signature color series, and Bone Paste Plus, which is used to fill the voids with complementary colors. The Craftsman Mix is a preblended concrete mix that can be used to create concrete countertops, concrete planters, architectural concrete elements, concrete sculptures, and so on. The consistency of the mix is especially unique, allowing you to create numerous finishes from one mix. This is a great product for DIY projects because of the ease of use, and is also a great mix for professional artisans.
