Extracts from an interview conducted by Jorn de Cock, Middle East correspondent for the Belgian newspaper De Standaard, with Bernard Hage, better known as “The Art of Boo”, at the launch of "The Philosopher", an exhibition element of the IN BETWEEN Festival, which has just taken place in Beirut.
The presentation was funded by Comic Art Europe, of which the Lakes International Comic Art Festival is a project partner. Organised by British Council Lebanon, the IN BETWEEEN festival convened multi, cross, and inter-disciplinary cultural and creative activities revolving around the creative economy and global matters.
LICAF presented, as an exhibition, a giant one-page comic entitled “The Philosopher“, an inner monologue about the individual’s attitude toward community, in theory and practice, by the organisation’s most recent Kendal-based artist in residence, Bernard Hage, best known as “The Art of Boo”, who is from Lebanon, but based in Berlin.
"Thank you to all those who made it to the exhibition of The Philosopher," enthuses Art of Boo. "A huge thank you for British Council Lebanon for inviting me and for organising this wonderful event, for the As-Safir Newspaper for hosting us, and for LICAF and Comic Art Europe for making this project happen!"
