Tonight, we interview Amanda Wells, who's brother Donald "Donnie" Farris went missing after being dropped off at a senior center to visit his grandpa on July 3rd, 2022 in Collinsville, IL. Over 18 months later there are no answers and Amanda and family are now frantic to find their loved one. Please watch to learn about the case so you can possibly help out!
On July 3 ,2022 we took my brother Donnie over to our grandfathers house at the Collinsville, Brener building, as we have on multiple occasions, for our grandfather, not to be home.
Donnie then called me to let me know our Grandpa wasn’t answering, so I told him to go ahead and walk back to our house and to let me know when he made it home. We were on our way to Sainte Genevieve to watch fireworks with the kids so we were unable to give him a ride back to the house ..
He took a shortcut and made his way to MotoMart gas Station on Vandalia st. where he was seen by multiple people with a woman by the name of Barb Smith. He went there and purchased a half pint of fireball and a soda, and that was the last anyone seen of him. I messaged him at 7:41 PM asking if he made it home and if he was able to get in the house. I never received a reply until 11:15 PM and all it said was “yes“.
It seemed kind of strange, because that didn’t sound like my brother or something he would say. He would normally carry on a conversation. When we made our way back home at Almost 1 AM there were no signs of entry in the home. At this time, it didn’t concern me too much. It was really late so I assumed maybe he went back to our grandpa’s house.
I contacted our grandfather, and he said he hadn’t seen him. So I called Madison County Sheriff‘s Department to make a missing persons report for them to tell me I had to wait 48 hours. I wasn’t able to make the missing persons report until July 10, 2022. My brothers case was assigned to Detective Simmons.
At first, when the case was opened, the Detective stayed in touch as often as he could, but then In the months to come at the time, I would contact the detective for him not to get back to me on multiple occasions.
There was hearsay that a man made the remark to an acquaintance telling them that he killed my brother and threw him in the lake behind LKQ. The detective did a cadaver search in that area for nothing to come up as well as a search over on Chapel Dr. there were 3 people taken in for questioning. The detective also pinged his phone and it showed it was in the area of chapel dr. Or in the area. The detectives did another search at Cahokia Mounds for nothing to come up.
We also had channel 5 news come out and the lady Barb Smith that was with my brother the night of the third said in her questioning that they walked across the street of Vandalia and went to 430 N. Morrison and then made their way to 439 Chapel Dr. she said that was the last she seen of him.
