The Uprising follows the Ploughman, played by Andrew Garfield, as he leads the people of England on a violent rebellion against King Richard II’s tyranny. It’s based on the Peasant’s Revolt of 1381, so the filmmakers worked closely with historian Dan Jones throughout the production process. Dan Jones is a British historian and novelist who wrote Summer of Blood, the history book that chronicles this event. His most recent publication, Henry V, came out in 2024.
The Uprising comes to theaters on September 11th.
