This job seeker was challenged by her interviewer for "job hopping."
These screenshots are from the new show Job Shopper, where the executive recruiter is trying to figure out if Stephanie would be a good candidate to put across to his clients.
His main concern is if she'll be a long-term employee or a job hopper.
Because many of the hiring managers he works with see job hopping as a red flag. đŠ
When I worked in recruiting, âjob hoppingâ was a frequent reason a hiring manager would reject a qualified candidate.
This was especially true for small and midsized companies because they donât have the infrastructure to have annual turnover in roles.
Many hiring managers are hesitant about it because they want to avoid the hassle of repeatedly re-hiring and training for the same position year after year, particularly for skilled roles that require longer ramp-up periods.
Hereâs the key to breaking that stereotype:
đ Itâs about showing youâve reached a stage where youâre intentionalâchoosing the right company and role for the long term.
đConfidence in your commitment doesnât come from words aloneâit comes from clarity.
Employers need to feel that youâve thought deeply about where you want to grow and how this role fits into that vision.
Want to know what happened next? Did Stephanie make it past the grilling?
