If there is any positive outcome to rethinking academic instruction during the current pandemic, it is the opportunity to engage with students in new, innovative ways and with a renewed appreciation for the online resources that campus libraries provide. Join Danielle DeMuth, associate professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Grand Valley State University, for a discussion on “rethinking instruction” in an online or hybrid learning environment.
DeMuth will also address the importance of using primary source content to help students learn how social issues have evolved over time, the challenges she has confronted when using large primary source archive collections, and how her experiences have shaped the way she teaches. She will provide examples of how she uses case studies to spark student engagement and increase their familiarity and comfort with primary sources, which ultimately builds interest in, and increases usage and interest of, other library collections.
