Every year, March 8th is celebrated around the world as International Women's Day, which is a day to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in all fields of life. In one of the events held on campus to celebrate the occasion, on March 16, 2023, Smt. Indrani Balan Science Activity Centre invited girl’s students and their teachers from Huzurpaga girl’s school and junior college to visit IISER campus. About 100 students participated in this programme where students interacted with IISER Pune scientists and faculty: Dr. Aparna Deshpande, Dr. Supriya Pisolkar, Dr. Devapriya Chattopadhyay, Dr. Mayurika Lahiri, Dr. Suhita Nadkarni, Dr. Leelavati Narlikar, Ms. Shubhangi Wankhede.
Students were delighted to tour IISER Pune and interact with the scientists. Scientists discussed their careers and research in the fields of mathematics, data science, cancer, physics, and the science of the human brain and also participated in question-and-answer sessions.
