In conversation with Jonathan Green we talk about a career working in science-fiction and fantasy IPs, novels, and gamebooks. Jonathan is credited on 8 gamebooks in the Fighting Fantasy series, wrote the definitive history of the series, has worked on several stories for the Black Library set in the 40k and Warhammer Fantasy worlds, including rare gamebook adventures in both!
Jonathan has also created his own series of gamebooks that draw inspiration from classic literature like Dracula or Alice in Wonderland and give readers the chance to choose their own route through these famous stories.
We had a terrific chat about the changes in fantasy writing over time, working with Games Workshop, and the art of gamebook writing.

As one of the first authors to write fiction for Warhammer Nicola Griffith brought a unique voice to the Fantasy world. Her stories as part of the 1989 GW Books fiction line predate the Black Library by almost a decade, yet explore the setting with a literary curiosity and perspective that has rarely if ever been replicated.
We talk about becoming a self-made author, finding space for a unique voice in Warhammer, and the enduring legacy of those stories in later work.

Ryan Miller helped to establish Games Workshop’s brief tenure as a CCG and TCG card game company by founding Sabretooth Games in the early 2000s.
Responsible for the Warhammer card game WarCry, and a 40k card game called Horus Heresy, Miller explored parts of the settings and lore that were relatively untouched, and tapped into a completely different gaming space for GW. And all of that was before he helped to design Disney Lorcana.

In conversation with the truly legendary Steve Jackson we talk about founding Games Workshop in the 70s, starting White Dwarf, working with Bryan Ansell as his Citadel team created Warhammer, co-writing Fighting Fantasy with Sir Ian Livingstone, and creating cutting edge interactive storytelling over the phone with Steve Jacksons F.I.S.T (Fantasy Interactive Scenarios by Telephone!)
This was a huge joy for me to film and a conversation I never thought I’d get to have - a magical opportunity for which I am very grateful. Thank you to Steve and to everyone who has supported the channel that has allowed me to do this work!
