A few video episodes of U.S. Navy Sailors utilizing the Mk 38 MOD 2 25mm MGS, including some footage with the Phalanx CIWS, during live fire training exercises against simulated enemy boats/targets while conducting routine operations at sea.
The purpose of the exercise is to maintain Sailors' readiness and proficiency as well as checking the system's reliability.
The Mk 38 MOD 2 is the newer version of the Mk 38, which is remotely operated and includes an Electronic Optical Sight, Laser Range-Finder, FLIR, and a more reliable feeding system, enhancing the system's capabilities and accuracy.

PACIFIC OCEAN. Aerial view of the sinking exercise (SINKEX) during Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) Exercise. Twenty-two nations, more than 40 ships and submarines, about 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel are participating in RIMPAC from June 26 to August 1. The worlds largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships that are critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the worlds oceans. RIMPAC 2014 is the 24th exercise in the series that began in 1971.
