ServeTheHome | Intel QuickAssist is a "Cheat Code" for Server Performance @ServeTheHomeVideo | Uploaded September 2022 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
Intel QuickAssist Technology is a game-changer for many compression and crypto workloads in servers. We go into the technology, its performance, and some of the gotchas to see how much Intel QAT accelerates a dual-socket Intel Xeon Gold 6338N ("Ice Lake") server compared to an AMD EPYC 7513 ("Milan") server. We also show a bit on what you can do to achieve this level of acceleration in your systems with compression, IPsec VPN, and nginx HTTPS servers as we look at Intel QuickAssist performance.
Note: This was sponsored by Intel because I needed to fly up to Oregon and we needed to put together a 100GbE demo environment using some fairly specialized tools. As always, we retained full editorial control and Intel did not get to review anything prior to publication including scripts, the main site article, or the video before we published it.
