H2M 2024 | Integration and Communication: The Results of the 10th Mars Achievability and Sustainability Workshop
Dr. Erik Antonsen (Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital)
At the 2024 Humans to Mars Summit in Washington D.C., Dr. Erik Antonsen delivered an insightful talk on the outcomes and value of the 10th Annual Achieving Mars Workshop. Held from December 5-7, 2023, at The George Washington University and hosted by Explore Mars, Inc., the workshop brought together a diverse group of experts to evaluate the current state of human exploration of Mars. Dr. Antonsen highlighted that, despite notable progress, existing channels have proven inadequate for fully integrating human capabilities, limitations, and scientific objectives into the Mars architecture development process. He emphasized that sustainable human exploration of the Moon and Mars requires the early and continuous infusion of both science and exploration objectives into systems engineering processes. This integration is crucial for advancing our goals of long-term human presence and exploration on Mars.
