Stillmatic is the fifth album by American rapper Nas, which came out on December 18, 2001, under Ill Will and Columbia Records. Unlike his earlier albums that focused on gangsta rap, this one talks about social issues and deep thoughts, similar to his first album, Illmatic from 1994. Nas talks about life in the ghetto, American politics, and his disagreement with rapper Jay-Z.

Nas, born Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones on September 14, 1973, is a famous American rapper known by his stage name. He's considered one of the greatest rappers ever, especially in East Coast hip hop. Nas started his music journey in 1989 with the name "Nasty Nas" and got guidance from another rapper, Large Professor. He made his first appearance in Main Source's song "Live at the Barbeque" in 1991. Nas's first album, Illmatic (1994), was hugely praised and even added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2020. His second album, It Was Written (1996), became a big hit, selling lots of copies, especially with the hit single "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)" featuring Lauryn Hill.
