Here’s what I’m swapping “normal” for:
1. Family adventures, game nights, beach days, hikes, read alouds, star gazing, movie nights rather than shows every night.
2. Reflection. Stillness. Space for wonder and regulation.
3. Going places and doing things we enjoy and not doing them in a hurry.
4. Having fun with my husband. Not worrying about money anymore or spending our weekends cleaning/organizing.
5. Feeling rested. Awake. Alive.
6. Contributing work to the world that matters to me.
7. Enjoying good food with good friends.
8. Sleep. !!! Going to bed earlier.
9. Falling behind on texts and news but feeling present to my kids.
10. Experiencing more pleasure from little simple things.
11. Freedom from anxiety.
12. Freedom to accept and trust my children as they are. And to nurture our relationship knowing I am living my adult life to the fullest and not getting sucked into scarcity and fear.
13. Sabbath
14. Cooking and eating organically and seasonally.
15. Growing my own food.
16. Intimacy.
17. Homeschooling.
18. Less stuff to clean and manage.
My only regret:
Not being brave enough to take the splint in the raging river down the slow and scenic stream SOONER.
Come on in the waters nice. 👋🏽
