If you have a particularly strong American or other accent when you speak a foreign language, this is in large part because you are probably using the same base or fulcrum or axis of articulation / locus of energy in the mouth that you use in your native language. By shifting this focal point, you can instantly change or alter your accent, and hopefully begin to improve your overall pronunciation.
