The main reason you would want to install the Rockstar games launcher is to access games you bought through Rockstar directly. This saves you from having to rebuy the games through Steam.

On top of this, the Rockstar Launcher has some games that can only be obtained through it. For example, the legacy non-definitive version of games like San Andreas and Vice City.

Luckily, thanks to SteamOS and the Proton Compatibility layer, installing and running the Rockstar Games Launcher is a relatively simple process. All you need to do is access desktop mode, download the launcher and then install it within a Proton compatibility layer.
