Insidious has an iconic red “SI” in its logo — and Jacob Chase knows the surprisingly obscure reason why. The Insidious: Out of the Further writer-director reveals the original marketing idea that created a franchise trademark fans have seen for years.

Chase also explains approaching the 2026 film as an Insidious fan himself, including which established conventions he wanted to honor — and which ones he deliberately broke. He dives into expanding The Further, using color to build scares, taking the horror outside the traditional haunted house setting, and designing the movie's many ghosts. Most importantly, Chase reveals the pressure he felt to create scares that hadn't already been done across five previous Insidious films.
