The U.S.S. Defiant was Starfleet’s first warship, partially designed by Commander Sisko after the Borg threat. Stationed at Deep Space Nine, it featured ablative armor and a Romulan cloaking device, built purely for combat—no families, no diplomacy.
Designed as a first-strike vessel, the Defiant played a key role in the Dominion War before being destroyed in 2375 at the Second Battle of Chin’toka (DS9: “The Changing Face of Evil”).
