The CABI (Centre for Agriculture and Biosciences International) culture collection of microorganisms holds more than 30,000 living strains of fungi and bacteria.

Samples from dangerous moulds to useful yeasts are stored for scientists to work with in areas like the development of new pharmaceuticals or research of plant pathogens in agriculture.

The collection also houses historically relevant fungi like one of the first strains of penicillin discovered by Sir Alexander Fleming.
