In close collaboration with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, we’re open-sourcing Surya—a first-of-its-kind foundation model for solar physics.

Trained on nearly a decade of high-resolution images from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, this AI model helps predict solar outbursts that endanger astronauts and disrupt satellites, power grids, and communications on Earth—faster than ever before.

We’ve also released SuryaBench—the largest curated collection of datasets and benchmarks designed to simplify the observation and evaluation of solar phenomena.

Together, this release aims to democratize the study of our Sun through AI. We invite scientists, engineers, and enthusiasts worldwide to build their own space-weather solutions with this groundbreaking model and dataset collection, here on Hugging Face
