![HondaJets Test Program
Following the first flight of Hondas proof-of-concept aircraft, and announcement of HondaJet commercialization, Honda Aircraft Company developed an aircraft design suitable for production, and began years of extensive testing using multiple test aircraft. Thorough data was gathered on aircraft performance and safety, aimed at proving the airworthiness of the HondaJet in order to receive type certification from the FAA.
We did a progression — we did engine runs and we did avionics tests and we did taxi tests. We had the airplane up to 43,000 feet and out to 425 knots and we did a lot of testing on that over a couple of years.
We do the strength and durability testing. We do everything from subcomponents, all the way up to the full scale test article. Things like cold weather, field performance, crosswinds... high risk or just difficult tests, those once we get them behind us, everyone is a little more excited [that] were one step closer to certification.
