While in Asheville, North Carolina, a stranger left a comment claiming he was descended from the family portrayed in Deliverance. Just 12 hours later, we were on our way to meet him deep in the Appalachian backcountry. What started as a coincidence turned into a journey through the mountains, where we discovered a way of life holding on against an ever-changing world.
