We loaded up the truck in Tampa and made the run down to Key Largo with one mission in mind… yellowtail snapper on light tackle. With only a few hours of daylight left, we dropped the boat in, started chumming, and the action turned on fast.
After loading the livewell with fresh ballyhoo using the cast net, we headed to the patch reefs hoping for yellowtails, but in the Florida Keys you truly never know what is going to eat next. Between nonstop snapper action and a surprise giant red grouper battle on ultra light tackle, this trip turned into an unforgettable evening on the water.
