In the second episode, we spotlight Gridworks Development Partners, our pioneering platform tackling one of Africa’s biggest challenges: electricity access. Reliable, affordable, and green energy is essential for economic growth, yet transmission and distribution networks remain severely underfunded across the continent.
One of Gridworks’ transformative projects is Moyi Power, which is building mini-grids in three cities in northern DRC—home to 700,000 people who currently lack grid access. Today, many rely on costly diesel generators. But with Moyi Power’s solar-powered electricity, 250,000 people will gain access to clean energy within five years, and over 1 million by the end of the project’s 22-year concession.
In a country where only 19% of people have electricity, and just 1% in rural areas, this is game-changing.
