Arrow Video bring Innerspace to 4K Ultra HD, and we’ve been lucky enough to receive an early review copy ahead of its official release.
Directed by Joe Dante, this sci-fi classic arrives with a brand new 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negatives, presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with Dolby Vision HDR.
Picture quality is a significant upgrade over previous releases, with improved detail across both the practical effects-heavy internal body sequences and exterior shots. A fine layer of film grain is retained throughout, preserving the film’s original look while benefiting from enhanced clarity and colour.
Audio options include a restored 2.0 stereo mix, the original 6-track 70mm mix, and a brand new Dolby Atmos track. The Atmos mix is a standout, making excellent use of the height channels — particularly during the film’s iconic internal sequences — with strong low-end bass adding real impact.
Extras are a major highlight here. For the first time, Innerspace receives a substantial set of bonus features, including a brand new 60-minute retrospective documentary, previously unseen behind-the-scenes footage shot by Joe Dante and Dennis Muren, along with both new and archival commentaries.
This is easily the definitive edition of Innerspace and a must-own for fans.
