About This Event:
We are living through a moment of dramatic environmental, social, political, and technological change. Yet, architecture, urban design, and planning still tend to imagine permanence, rather than embrace change—favoring stability and order, and treating transformation as something to manage, rather than a force that can shape the future.
The exhibition, Infrastructure in a Time of Flux: Methods, Conditions, and Situations, curated by Rahul Mehrotra and Dan Borelli, brings together architectural, engineering, planning, and design ideas whose potential has yet to be fully realized. This opening event celebrates the power of art to bring these questions to life.
Join us for an evening that begins with a guided walk-through of the gallery led by the exhibition’s curators. The event will include a screening of a clip from the documentary film about Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Running Fence (Directed by Albert Maysles, David Maysles, and Charlotte Zwerin, 1977), and a conversation with Vladimir Yavachev, director of operations at the Christo and Jeanne-Claude Foundation.
This exhibition is supported by the Koji Yanai Innovative Infrastructure Initiative Fund. This event is part of ArtsThursdays, a university-wide initiative supported by the Harvard University Committee on the Arts (HUCA).
