I edited this the hard way, on a VCR in 1986. For anyone unfamiliar with VCR editing, it was not easy back then. Music is Infected - Skullcrusher Mix, by The The (Matt Johnson). I VJ'd raves in the 90s.
I gathered over a hundred VHS movies together. Over the years, I developed an instinct for knowing precisely how much time passed between pressing pause to start recording, and when the recorder would actually start recording a second or so later. I had manually developed a +/- 3-frame accuracy, which was as good or better accuracy as a decent VHS edit controller back then. Then it was a matter of playing the source scene a few times to anticipate when a particular moment would occur, start record, pause, rewind-search, play to see if it worked. Maybe attempting the whole process a few times to get it right. Not easy.
