I showcase a system that distributes item and fuel evenly between 16 furnaces using hoppers and redstone. It's much more expensive than a minecart-based design, but it is extremely reliable, completely silent, and distributes items exactly evenly.
This is the 2.0 design because I previously uploaded a video on an earlier industrial smelter (Back when 1.5 first came out). My previous design used the same sort of hopper/redstone distribution system but only distributed smeltable items (not fuel) and only had 16 furnaces in its most reliable form. This version greatly expands and improves the previous design, and best of all I discovered how to avoid the bug that occasionally plagues this sort of smelter - avoid crossing chunk boundaries.
