One wire coil is connected to a radio, and another is connected to a speaker. The two coils are not connected to each other. The radio signal is transmitted through the induced magnetic field caused by the current in the wires. The signal is only received when there is a magnetic flux through the receiving coil, and thus no sound is heard when the coils are perpendicular to each other. Enjoy.
