I grew a basil plant from seed in early Spring, and kept it indoors to keep it warm and productive. I've tried to grow basil outdoors at this time of year, and it's too cold for the plant, and it barely grows. In the warmth of the house, and near the sunny windows, the plant grew perfectly, with no pests. This was all improvised, but everything worked, because hydroponic basil is near bulletproof. I used General Hydroponics MaxiGrow nutrients, mixed at about 1g/L.
