Up close with the Newest and the Biggest aircraft in IndiGo's fleet! Apart from the ATR 72 Turboprop airplanes, IndiGo has operated only Airbus Narrow-body aircraft since the airline's inception. I never thought I'd see an Indigo liveried wide-body aircraft, let alone one manufactured by Boeing. This became a reality when IndiGo wet-leased two Boeing 777-300ERs from Turkish Airlines for a year. TC-LKD, delivered in May 2023, was the first 777 painted in 6E's livery, allowing the airline to operate Delhi-Istanbul direct flights. This airframe, TC-LKE was originally delivered to Emirates in March 2007 and operated for EK until 2019. She then flew for Azur Air from May 2019 till March 2022 before she was withdrawn from use and stored. Turkish Airlines took hold of the aircraft a few months later and leased it to IndiGo in June 2023. She landed here on 27th June and this was her first revenue flight for IndiGo. It felt so strange to see 6E's livery on a wide-body aircraft. I hope IndiGo adds many more wide-body aircraft to its fleet from now on. Kudos to 6E for painting the aircraft in its full livery as most airlines don't bother painting them for short-term operations. This airframe is configured with 7 Business class and 524 Economy class seats. IndiGo plans to make the most of this high-density aircraft on the high-demand BOM-IST route. Seen here taxiing to the runway for her flight to Istanbul, Turkey as "6E17" on a dull monsoon morning. Fun fact: There are 3 Turkish registered 77Ws in this photo.
