Indigenous Health Topics (IHT) is dedicated to featuring speakers who are recognized experts in health, education, and research—locally, regionally, and nationally. Presentations center on issues that significantly affect American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

In this session, Miigis Gonzalez from the Center for Indigenous Health at Johns Hopkins discusses flourishing in Indigenous Communities. She addresses Anishinaabe teachings on language, wellbeing, ways of knowing, and what makes a good life. She also addresses the importance of representation and the problem with deficit narratives. The session concludes with Dr. Gonzalez answering questions from attendees.
