The enormous, city-sized Meenakshi Temple complex is built in the shape of a
mandala, a sacred geometric symbol coming from Hinduism, one of the oldest
religions. Inside is found an architectural style that is exuberant, symbolic and
figurative and its 30 million colourful sculptures tell the epic stories of its deities.
It is dedicated to the god Shiva and Meenakshi, his beloved companion. And
every evening at dusk, their union is celebrated once again...
