The City’s homelessness response and public safety teams are on the front lines of the homelessness crisis. Our Familiar Faces team, Homeless Assistance Response (HART) team, police, firefighters, and first responders meet and support unsheltered individuals every day.
Outreach from the City and County has increased in the weeks leading up to the planned closure of encampments citywide, beginning on August 5 with the encampment at Pig's Eye Park. Outreach teams will work with each individual to coordinate next steps — including getting them connected to shelter, housing resources, and behavioral and mental health support.
