’The Earth Above: A Deep Time View of Australia’s Epic History’ is an immersive planetarium experience that brings together a collective of Indigenous and non-Indigenous filmmakers, Elders, Traditional Owners, artists, archaeologists, and animators. The project weaves emerging research with Indigenous knowledge to explore deep time and propose hopeful futures.
We will hear from key contributors behind The Earth Above, reflecting on stories like ancient trackways at Lake Mungo to the discovery of the oldest Aboriginal-made pottery in Australia. Together, they will explore how collaborative research can transform our understanding of Australia’s past and future.
The Earth Above is a feature-length full-dome planetarium show from the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Australian Biodiversity and Heritage (CABAH) produced by the Deakin MotionLab in collaboration with First Nations communities and UOW Science Space.
