The inaugural session of the two-day national seminar on the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR), 1873, organised by the Naga Students' Federation (NSF) and coordinated by its Inner Line Regulation Commission (ILRC) was held at Town Hall, Dimapur on August 28.
Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha, IAS, attended as special invitee, alongside dignitaries, delegates and academics across Northeastern states, along with representatives from civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
The Day One session aimed to lay the historical, academic and empirical foundation for the seminar by examining how the century-old regulation operates in Nagaland and identifying gaps, if any, between the legal framework and its implementation on the ground.
