Joseph Arthur (born September 28, 1971) is a contemporary singer-songwriter from Akron, Ohio.
Joseph's first instrument was the piano which he started playing in fourth grade. The inspiration to write and record music came at age thirteen, when Joseph inherited an electronic keyboard with a sequencer that his aunt had bought for his cousin. From then on he began overdubbing and recording his songs.
Joseph then moved to bass. While still in high school he played blues with FRANKIE STARR AND THE CHILL FACTOR, doing gigs all over Cleveland.
He was discovered by Peter Gabriel in the mid-'90s.
