In the harsh drylands, Prosopis (or any pioneer species) starts the sequence in both time and space — creating shade, shelter, and mulch to help other trees establish and thrive. Once its job is done, it’s “chop-and-dropped,” leaving roots and organic matter behind to feed the soil and make room for the next generation.
