MLP PROJECT!! WITH A DOPE VILLAIN SONG!! HELL YES
Even though I'm not as a die hard MLP fan as I used to it still has a dear place in my heart. It still inspires me a lot and I still unironically listen to a lot of the songs, Daniel Ingram really cooked with those
For the part, I'm really happy with how it turned out! I've made a 3d model of a changeling to help me stay consistent and figure out the movement, though Blender refused to let me weight paint it properly and not even an hour long research session helped me, so I had to animate them weirdly ughh at least it still helped a lot!
The background was originally meant to be completely 3d, I found a cool tutorial on how to make 2d looking textures, but my pc just exploded when I tried to render it so I just painted the texture on
I also tried to import my 2d animations into Blender to composite in there but I couldn't figure out how to do that in the recent version so rip. Had to render out the 3d background as 2d images and just parallax them in ToonBoom like usual
Here is the tutorial I was talking about! Really helpful stuff highly recommend: youtube.com/watch?v=XUredxyRLB0
Chapters:
Intro - 0:00
Part - 0:04
Process - 0:14
Outro - 1:02
Project call: youtube.com/watch?v=M9se1Hd2KKg
Songs: In the Dark of the Night (from Anastasia) (covered by annapantsu)
-Evil King Bowser Here (from Super Paper Mario)
-Outro song: youtube.com/watch?v=FuZb5BmVCU8
Programs used:
-Blender (3d reference + background)
-Krita (2d animations)
-Toon Boom Harmony 17 (compositing)
-Vegas Pro 14 (editing video process)
Time taken:
a few weeks
