I want to take a moment to talk about a friend I lost today. Many of the friends I knew in high school and a few friends I have gained along the way in the last couple years have either heard me talk fondly of Pepper or had the joy of meeting him in person. Pepper was an aloof cat. He rarely was ever vocal, but he did love a good pat while sitting on the living room sofa. He was not the biggest fan of being picked up, but that did not mean he was not lovable. On the contrary... Pepper got me through some of my worst times in my younger years. As many of you know, I spent a good deal of my time in high school very sick. Every other month it seemed like I was down with something else. And every single time I was feeling that way, or hell just feeling sad in general he would jump into bed with me and sit next to me and make me not feel so alone. He did the same for a good deal of mental illness that I didn't even know I had at the time. He was a good boy. Sure, he had his moments like any other pet where he would get temperamental, but overall I cannot say the last 12 years he was on this earth were not wonderful to spend with him. My only regret is not playing with him a little more when I went home. I still got to pet him and he would jump in bed with me when I stayed up too late (like I always do) but I just wish I had done a little more for the little guy.... Or BIG guy I suppose. I miss him to pieces already. He will always hold a special place in my heart. The only thing I can hope for is that his last moments with us were fond ones for him and that wherever he is now he is not suffering and is sleeping curled up somewhere in a sofa in the sky. He was always lazy after all...haha... Rest in peace, Peppy! You were one of my best friends and I will never forget you.
