Sam Neill is the reason I fell in love with dinosaurs.

My relationship with my real dad wasn’t great, so I ended up clinging to “movie dads” and YouTube dads instead, and Grant was one of the biggest. I even kept a picture of him in my wallet and told people he was my dad. It sounds a bit sad, but as a kid it genuinely helped.

He made dinosaurs feel magical, made chaos feel safe, and quietly showed me what a kind, steady father figure could look like.

This tattoo is for him, for the dinosaurs, and for the kid version of me who needed someone like Dr. Alan Grant to hold onto.
