When you go and see a live concert, there is an opener whose job it is to warm-up the crowd. Often, these are unknown bands in the scene (especially in pop-punk or punk rock shows). It can be all to easy to say "I'll just get to the venue late and miss the opener".

But seeing an opening band play is one of the best ways to discover new music in the scene! For me, watching every band on the ticket play is an essential part of the experience, and it was how I discovered Hot Mulligan!
