One of the great lies of Side B theology is that sin is so bound to identity that to call it sin is to attack the person. That’s why they take offense when anyone names homosexual behavior as sinful. It feels like “oppression” rather than truth. But that is exactly where the gospel shines: in Christ, our identity is no longer tied to our sin. We are set free to hate sin without hating ourselves, because our life is hidden in Him.
