In a near-future North America where children are taken from their families and forced into state-run military camps to be indoctrinated and used as soldiers. The story follows Niska, a Cree woman who has been hiding her daughter Waseese for years, but when the girl is captured, Niska joins an underground resistance of Indigenous rebels determined to rescue their children and fight against the oppressive regime.
