Less than half of the rural residents in the Fayoum governorate in Egypt are covered by sanitation services or are connected to the centralised wastewater network.

Supported by the European Union and European Investment Bank, we are improving wastewater services for Fayoum’s rural inhabitants by building new treatment facilities and increasing the capacity of the existing wastewater plants.

This will contribute to the improvement of the overall health of the local population and the depollution of Lake Qarun, Egypt’s third largest lake.
