For a long time, we thought there was only 1 1-UP in 1-1. A few months ago, andrewg showed us a way to get an extra 1-UP (through shell kicking), which inspired me to make this video.
My method is extremely complex: through shell stomping against the wall. I've demonstrated before that stomping one Koopa can get 4000 max, but Mario can get more stomps with the help of Goombas. I've managed to keep 3 Goombas in 1-1. All 3 mushrooms are absolutely required for the setup, and the Star is just for fun.
This TAS demonstrates that the maximum lives can be gotten in 1-1 is 7.
