So I had a pretty good run of uploading each and every day, and I was really digging it, getting into things, but I just. I'm scared to even load things up and try again, after how many times in a row it's just fucked up.
Especially considering the rest of the computer runs fine. It plays other games fine, it does normal, everyday functions like streaming video or word processing perfectly fine. It still all runs fine, but when I try to record Katawa Shoujo with OBS, things get fucked, bad, fast.
And FRAPs doesn't recognize Katawa is a game at all, the only reason I've changed my recording method I've used for five+ years.

After wasting time try to develop defenses when there really arent any good ones, weve finally switched gears. Now, were working up new ways to kill the enemy.
Our weapon tech has been Adequate to Sub-Par for far too long, weve been skating on on Fire Controls for the better part of an entire century. Finally, new heads at FleetCom have developed some more fun methods of fighting.
Plus, somehow learning the Zuul language actually made our engineers realize that bigger, better guns are preferable?")

An update or post-script to the last two, showing how my tenure commanding the Liir has turned things around. It was a bit of a grinding slog, and free tip, dont lose any ships ever as Liir, because replacing them is a bitch. Industry and finance arent high on a spiritual dolphins priorities.
Liir are not made for grinding battles of attrition. Youre meant to swim in and out with graceful, elegant, perfectly-placed strikes, concentrating all force where the enemy is weakest, using even your apparently slow form of FTL to fullest advantage, and take them out before they know whats happening.
That trick I showed about looking like youre going to hit somewhere else, then redirecting on the final turn to achieve a surprise attack wouldnt work on a human more than once, but against the CPU, well. Its pretty effective.

Yeah, I feel bad about some of my whining, because I dont hate this game at all. The LPs I truly dont enjoy get very far at all, and Valkyria Chronicles is a classic, when all is said and done...
But even classics can have Niggles, and everyone gets frustrated once in a while. So hey.
Also, Im back to waffling between playing this properly (least turns possible, treat battles like puzzles to solve flawlessly) and playing it legitimately (fight everything, clear entire levels, conserve troops).
The latter is more fun, but hey. Perhaps its better if we try to finish this battle quickly, given the, uh, special enemy hovering over us. Not in the face, Selvaria!
(Also out of respect for the game and its emotional moments I didnt vocalize my Niggles with the cutscene at the end of the video, such as the line But we got em all when we literally rushed their camp down and left at least a dozen units on the game map untouched.)

Have a deluxe edition of the LP, featuring an upgrade to Fusion power tech, which means every ship in the fleet is getting upgraded. Luckily, were so specialized we dont know about a lot of types still. Also, lots of concerned dithering, thatll boost the runtime.
The Tarkas really, really fucking hurt when theyre pouring cruisers on you, and its all we can do to barely hold the line. In fact, Im not even sure well manage that.
