Pre-checklists are so important and prioritized whenever it comes to a dangerous/risky activity or task. Here are some examples of different situations that require a pre-checklist prior to moving forward in their activity or task.
-Rock climbers check all their equipment to ensure it is efficient and safe prior to scaling a cliff.
-Scuba divers check their air tanks, among other diving equipment, to ensure they have a safe dive.
-Sky divers check their parachute so that they can have a peace of mind knowing it will deploy and they will make it to the ground safely.
-Surgeons check that they have all the appropriate tools and patient information prior to operating.
-Pilots check all the different components of the plane to ensure it is in proper working condition prior to taking off.
Could you imagine going into surgery and the doctor operates on the wrong limb because he didn't go through the pre-surgery checklist? Or going sky diving and your chute not deploying as you are falling towards the earth because you skipped a step on your pre-dive checklist?
The same applies to towing. There are so many tasks that must be done prior to hitting the road and yet so many of us take off without checking any of them. Tongue weight is something that needs to be checked and adjusted every time you tow. So if you wouldn't dare jump out of a plane or dive into the deep ocean without going through your safety checklists, why would you tow your trailer down the road without going through your pre-tow checklist?
Why be kinda safe, when you can be Weigh Safe?!
